Tate is a proven leader, on and off the field. He has a 4.0 GPA and a 1430 on his first attempt of the SAT at the beginning of his sophomore year. A three-sport athlete, Football (QB), Wrestling and Baseball, he uses his athleticism and intelligence to excel at the all-state level.
Not only was Tate 1st team, All-Olympic League for his play in the outfield during his sophomore season, but he received the All-Olympic League Sportsmanship award as well, showing he plays the game the right way, at a high level, against older competition. On a team with a D1 and D2 commit, and a sophomore, Tate led his High School team in OPS, SLG, hits, runs, 2B, 3B, and total bases. He was a close second in RBI. He started every game in the outfield and as the cleanup hitter.
Tate is a true student of the game. He has read Bill James' Baseball Bible cover to cover multiple times and devoured Ted Williams' "The Science of Hitting" in one sitting.
Currently standing 6'3" and weighing in at 205 lbs with broad shoulders, long arms (78" wingspan) and a thick lower half, Tate is still growing into his body. He utilizes Driveline's weightlifting program at least 3x a week and is also working with a speed and conditioning coach to improve his explosive power.
Tate loves the game. He loves the practice and the grind. He has the "want to" to play at the next level and will use his grit, passion, athleticism, and intelligence to succeed.
