Player Bio
My name is Ethan McLaughlin , and I will be a senior at Moscow Senior High School for the coming year and graduating in 2024. I recently completed my junior season as a defensive utility player, filling any space that my team needed. I played both corners, the outfield and was regularly used as a high stakes reliever.
Although I finished the season with room for improvement at the plate, I still led the team and our region in RBI’s through our regional playoff games.
My work ethic, dedication to the game, acceptance of failures, and obsession with continual improvement has allowed me to grow at a sustainable rate in several aspects of my game.
Pitching:
1. 20 MPH gained over 3 years on the mound under Driveline Instructors and hard work.
2. Development and design of 3-5 effective pitches which include, 2S, FB, CT, SL and CH.
3. Deep understanding of command and control.
Fielding:
1. Learned to accept errors and failure allowing me to reset rapidly.
2. High Baseball IQ and effective communication assist in plays
3. Willingness to play anywhere, at any time and continue to be coachable in that position.
Hitting:
1. Strong fundamentals and understanding of offensive importance.
2. Exit velocity pushing 100MPH this year
3. Power hitter with ability to play for contact when necessary.
Strength and Development:
1. Elevated understanding of body movement and effective weight training.
2. Gained 20+ pounds of usable muscle mass through proper instruction in 3 years.
3. 5-6 days in the gym every week.
As a freshman in 2020 I was 5’10 and weighed 175 pounds. I now stand 6’1 and am a lean 205 pounds.
I am currently working to improve my GPA through summer school with the goal of starting my senior year at a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Although challenging, summer school has provided me a chance to acquire better study habits which should translate well before graduation.
I look forward to continuing my training through 2023 with plans on finishing strong with the Spokane Expos over the next 3 weeks.
I plan attending a handful of prospect camps late summer and into the fall.
On July 5th I will be taking part in the Baseball Northwest PEC in Spokane Washington at Whitworth University, and will attend a camp at WSU in August.
I feel strongly that I would be a great addition to any program, and I look forward to the opportunities ahead of me beyond high school.
