Christopher Maiocca

I was born in Boston, so baseball has always been a big part of my family culture. We moved several times when I was young and I played town-ball whenever the opportunity arose. The first time I played highly competitive baseball was freshman year at Mt. View. Many of the players had been in the program year round since seventh grade as most high schools in the Treasure Valley have club teams. I showed up for tryouts not knowing anyone and Coach Schneidt said he would have taken me on Varsity if they had more history with me. That year I led the Mt. View JV team in nearly all offensive categories. It was also the first year I was able to make major contributions on the mound. I worked hard in the off season and gained nearly 40 pounds. In the spring I was one of only two sophomores to make the varsity squad. Over my sophomore and junior years I saw minimal playing time. Mt. View had one of the best line-ups in the state and opportunities at the plate were hard to come by. I continued to work on my pitching, seeing it as the best chance for me to make a contribution. In 2025 I was called on to pitch in our super-regional elimination game against our rival, Rocky Mountain. My coaches said it was my pitching that allowed us a chance to play in the state finals. I was grateful to have made some important contributions that year on the mound. 

Towards the end of the Spring 2025 season, I did consider moving away from baseball since our team was incredibly deep and only two starters had graduated. My coach assured me that I would get more opportunities over summer, so I decided to keep grinding.

Over the summer 2025 my club team became the best squad in the state and I was able to lead us in most offensive categories - hitting .444 with a 1.324 OPS. In my last outing of the summer, I pitched a complete game, 2 hit shutout against a reputable club team from the Seattle area.

After my outing at the 2025 Northwest Championships, I was contacted by five college coaches. As of this writing, I have not yet committed to any school. 

I have saved up money to train at Tread Athletics - the premier program for pitchers in the country. I speak daily with my coach and my goal is to sit at 88-91 mph by the start of my senior year. I am looking for a college in the PNW where I can further develop as a person and a player. My goal is to study fire science and finish my college baseball career at a D1 school.
