2010 Baseball Northwest Championship
The 12th annual 2010 Northwest Championship Tournament will be held August 11th -15th at various locations around Portland, Oregon. Ten teams in each class (2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014) will compete in the tournament. The nearly 800 players will be the largest collection of the region's top players ever to be assembled in one place in the northwest.
Player Evaluation
Baseball Northwest’s 36 teams are selected for this tournament from regional Prospect Evaluation camp rosters. Players are invited to the June and July one day Prospect Evaluation camps by recommendation to Baseball Northwest by professional scouts, college coaches, selected high school coaches, Baseball Northwest personnel and observation from “open” tryout camps. All high school coaches are sent recommendation forms to nominate players for consideration. Players can nominate themselves for consideration for invitation to Prospect Evaluation Camps by emailing Baseball Northwest through the web site but is best for players to attend “open” tryout camps in April and May for evaluation by Baseball Northwest evaluators. Players receiving Prospect Evaluation Camp invitations do not need to attend tryout camps.
Invitations
Invitations for the Northwest Championship Tournament will go out to players after each Evaluation Camp. Over 200 college recruiters and professional scouts attended last year’s event (including Prospect Evaluation Camps) from all over the country. The 2009 Northwest Championships drew the largest collection of college coaches and professional scouts ever to observe an amateur baseball event in the Northwest.
Teams
Baseball Northwest teams will again be set up as follows:
- Oregon Metro
- Oregon State
- Washington Southwest
- Washington Metro
- Washington Metro South
- Washington Northwest
- Washington East
- Idaho
- Montana/Wyoming
- A Baseball Northwest At-Large team in each class (2011, 2013, 2014).
